ABSTRACT:
Textile industry is the second largest industry in the world providing employment to the people after agriculture. Though we are living in the era of technology where everything is possible or better we can say that operations can be performed easily with the use of upgraded technology for example if we talk about textile spinning mill their we see automatic doffing, linkages of machines etc. but though we have such technologies but these technologies cannot replace manpower in the textile sector. Though there are automatic machines, systems but at last we will be requiring a man or a worker to perform activity on that machinery. When we talk about textile industry there are spinning weaving and processing units where lot of workers works on different machines. As these workers are not from very much educational background it is not easy to handle their bad habits they perform in mill. So the paper describes operational bad habits perform by the workers in the textile mill and remedies on it.

Workers or labours:
Due to the boost in the technology, all the textile machineries are of modern types which we are using in textile mills. When we talk about the olden textile era their we need the workers or operators who are very highly skilled and have technical know how of the machineries as the technology of those machineries was not so advanced as it is in todays date. But now the weaving and processing unit lot many workers work on the machines in each unit the major habit which proved very dangerous for the textile industry is absentism of worker. The workers or operator take leave whenever they like and from industry point of view it is very much serious as if one operator is absent then they have to ask people on contract basis on the same time and if someone is not available then work load of another worker increases. As the operator has very less knowledge of his absentism impact on the industry, its the duty of industry to organise various sessions of interaction with them and tell them about their importance of present regularly in the industry. This will help industry to have a good production and productivity if the absentism of workers is covered and if they get success in it.

Next apart from production let us talk about the health issues, many of the workers have bad habit of drinking smoking or eating any type of tobbaco product which are very much bad for their health when we relate this with industry point of view if a worker smoke's in industry it will affect his health as well as the health of others who are working around him. Sometimes it may lead to accident in the mill if a worker smokes near the bale and if he throw that burning cigarette on the area there may be chances of fire in the mill. So the industry should organise session for the workers regarding the health they should call some doctors to speak on health regarding topic. A proper diet, what is good for health, how they can leave this bad habit etc so all these will lead to awareness among the workers and they will get safe from the dangerous effect of such bad things on their health, it will be good for their health and also for all working in the industry if their health will be good then they will take less leaves and it will lead to smooth running of work in the department.

The above are the major bad habits which must be avoided by the workers while performing operation in department, now let us talk about some other bad habits which each and every worker should improve. It is generally seen in the mill if the lunch time is of 1 hour the worker get back to the machine half hour late or they usually go before the lunch time till that time the machine remains idle and this leads to the loss in production so such activities must be avoided by the workers. Various types of material handling is done in the mill the material may be cheap, expensive or it may be a process product. Workers don't know the cost of product and also they don't have idea about how much it will cost to the industry if the material get damaged. So they handle the materials very roughly, for example if a worker is working in blow room line then if the bale of cotton is opened in which half of the material is used so they don't even pack that bale they just cover them and drag them to the spot where they want this leads to the fiber loss and also leads to fly in the department apart from this if we talk the handling of warping beam if the beams are not properly handled then their may be chances of damage of beam parts like flanges etc. So this things should also be avoided by the workers.

The next thing they must think about personal safety they must wear shoes, helmet etc where needed in the department but they dont follow this things. Also when we talk about cleanliness and hygiene conditions it must be in mind of workers that they must not throw the waste anywhere in the working place they must use dustbin. They must also be aware about the water saving they should not waste water after drinking the water from taps they must off the tap of water after using it.

So all above are the operational bad habits of workers in textile industry this things can only be changed by arranging proper sessions and guidance programs for the workers it may be personal safety session, environmental session or regarding the production session. This will create awareness among the workers and will lead to the smooth hygiene and good working conditions of the textile mill and will help to achieve a good production and hence the higher productivity.
