Introduction:
The presence of Calcium, Magnesium common salt i.e bi-carbonates, sulphates, Chloride inwards H2O is called causes of hardness of water. Such soluble common salt are chloride, nitrites, sulphates as well as bicarbonate of these metallic heavy metallic similar Fe as well as Al besides tin tribute inwards the hardness of water. The H2O which contains these common salt is called difficult water. Hard H2O caused many problems during moisture processing. There are 2 types of hardness: Temporary hardness as well as permanent hardness.

Hardness Test Method:
There are few methods for mensuration water hardness. In this article I guide keep explained 3 methods of mensuration hardness of water.

a. Ammonia- Ammonium Chloride Buffer Solution:
Dissolve 67 gms. Ammonium Chloride to 570 ml concentrated Ammonia as well as and then brand upward the solution to 1 Litre past times distilled water.

b. Erichrome Black – T Solution:
Dissolve 75 ml Tri-ethanolamine to 25 ml Ethanol as well as and then add together 0.5 gm Erichrome Black – T inwards 100 ml volumetric flask.

c. 0.01M EDTA measure solution:
Dissolve 3.722 gms EDTA(Ethylene Diamine Terra Acetic Acid) to 1 Litre distilled water.

Procedure:
Take 100 ml of Sample inwards a Beaker + five ml (NH4)Cl buffer solution + 1-2 drops of Black – T as well as Titrate it against EDTA (0.01M)

Calculation:
1 ml of 0.01 G EDTA = 1 mg.
Total Hardness= Volume of EDTA * 10 ppm.

100 ml Sample are taken. But for ppm sample volition hold upward 1 litre, thence the number volition hold upward 10 times more.
