What is Needle:
Needle is used to sew together the textile past times thread.

Way of needle get is related to:

• Seam strength.
• Seam appearance.
• Seam durability.

Functions of needle inwards the sewing m/c:

• To brand a hole inwards the textile without damaging the threads of the fabric.
• To brand a needle thread loop.
• To conk the needle thread loop through the loop or loops of the looper thread. 

Anatomy of needle

Functions of unlike components of a needle:

• Butt: For setting the needle on to the needle bar or clamp. 

• Shank: Upper business office of the needle which is tied inwards the needle bar together with which supports the needle. 

• Shoulder: Middle business office of the shank together with blade is shoulder. It helps to brand the hole of the textile together with strengthen the needle blade. 

• Blade: Longest business office of the needle from the shoulder to needle eye. In this portion, friction betwixt textile together with needle is maximum. Blade is gradually tapered to tip. 

• Long groove: The long together with sparse groove betwixt shoulders to needle oculus inwards the blade is called long groove. When the needle penetrates the textile alongside needle thread, needle thread takes seat inwards the long groove. 

• Eye: The hole acquaint inwards the front end of the needle is called eye. Eye through which sewing thread is passed. 

• Scarf: The groove of the needle higher upward the oculus is called scarf. Its utilisation is to enable the closer setting of looper to the needle. 

• Point: The part from the oculus to the tip of the needle is called point. Point should endure unlike for unlike type of fabric. 

• Tip: The terminal (extreme end) business office of the needle is called tip. It helps to practice hole inwards the textile during sewing.

Classification of needle point:
The part from the oculus to the tip of the needle is called needle point.

Two types of needle point-

1. Cutting point.
2. Cloth point.

Cloth point: 
Cloth signal / Round signal needles used for sewing cloths. The signal of cloth signal needle is round.

Two types of cloth points:

• Set point.
• Ball point.

Set point: Set signal needles used for sewing woven fabrics.

3 types of develop points namely:

1. Slim develop point: For sewing densely woven textile or peak stitching similar collar, cuff together with pockets.
2. Set point: For sewing medium densely woven fabrics.
3. Heavy develop point: For sewing buttons ( attaching buttons)

Set point

Ball point: Ball signal needles used for sewing knitted garments.

Ball signal needles are of three types:

1. Light ball point.
2. Medium ball point.
3. Heavy ball point.

Needle size aspect

Metric arrangement (Nm):
Easy process, nearly usable, based on blade diameter.

Needle size = Blade dia inwards mm X 100
= 0.8 mm X 100
=80 Nm.

Singer system:
5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17.
Needle arrangement seat out more, needle coarser.

Causes of damaging needle point:

• Needle heats alongside m/c parts particularly pharynx plate.
• Faulty textile treatment during sewing past times m/c operator.
• Needle deflection during sewing.
• Improper needle size selection.
• Improper needle signal selection.
